Whoa! I haven't posted since 5/12.....not that it matters, I'm only posting for my enjoyment apparently!
Let's see, what has happened since 5/12, well my oldest daughter attended her high school senior prom. My husband and I chaperoned the after prom activities, that was an interesting evening. They had several things going on but after the kids make their way through the activities once, there's not much else to do and the kids quickly become board and want to leave! It was a long night, that's for sure!
May 17th, we had the court hearing for the girls....didn't go as I would have liked it to and I'm sure it's not over yet but we'll get through it.
May 18th my stepdaughter goes into labor that lasted FOREVER! May 19th the finally gives birth to Eli Christopher. Weighing 8 lbs. 9 oz and measuring 20.5 inches long!! He's a keeper....lots of dark hair and nice full cheeks to love on!
On May 21, my youngest ran her first 5k and placed 3rd.....awesome effort!!
May 22 and 23 the youngest participated in a Gus Macker tournament. Lots of fun was had.
Now we're up to the 24th and the youngest has a softball game tonight....can you see an athletic trent here? She's always involved in one sport or another and I couldn't be more proud of her!!
That's all for now.

Feeling Fit
Last night was my first night with my personal trainer. I didn't know what to expect when I got to the gym but I'm so glad I didn't back out! It was WONDERFUL! We started off by completing the obligatory paperwork then she took my weight, height and body measurements. Talk about embarassing....I don't share those numbers with anyone and then to have a total stranger know all stuff and chart it so we can keep track of my progress.....it was a little intimidating! I'm thinking to myself "ok, we will stretch and then start out gently." I was sure of it!! WRONG! On to the treadmill we went and there was no mercy....she had me doing 2 minutes of walking and a minute of sprinting. A minute of sprinting was a VERY LONG minute! Who knew 60 seconds could last so long. And then we were on this machine called the "Arc Trainer" it's a fancy, schmancy eliptical trainer. I hop on and tell her how easy this and it's not so bad. Not the right thing to say to your trainer! Up goes the resistance and she pushed me to get to 10 METS and stay there! I still have no idea what a MET is but I know it was killing me to stay at 10 consistently. We did a great ab workout and some lunges. I literally thought I was going to throw up and I had to take a serious time-out! We wound down our workout with some stretches and she sent me on my way.
We have plans to meet 3 times a week for the next 6 months. I've made a pretty serious committment to get fit and I'm hoping it works!! I'm sure it will, my short term goal is to run a 5k on July 10th.....here's hoping!
The rest of my life is good too. Kids are getting endoftheschoolyear-itis!! Which means my grocery bill will increase because they'll be home everyday eating anything and everything they can get their hands on! Actually, we'll find out Monday whether or not they will be home for the summer.
Their dad lives in the Upper Peninsula and they are supposed to spend 7 weeks of their summer vacation with him. They leave on June 22 and come home on August 10. Their whole summer is wasted in the U.P. and they hate it! So this year, they decided they don't want to go, so I've petitioned the Friend of the Court to have the parenting time changed and we have a hearing on Monday, May 17th. We are seriously hoping things go in our favor and they are allowed to spend the summer at home where they are most comfortable!
Imagine only seeing your father twice per year and one of those two times is 7 weeks long and you're in a VERY small house with 4 step-siblings who are all under the age of 8, a crazy step-mom who has a boyfriend that comes over at night when Dad is gone to work! Yes folks....these things really happen!!
My oldest daughter graduates high school at the end of the month and I can hardly believe it! She informed me this morning that she has a two hour detention after school today! I laughed....I don't think this is the reaction she expected from me. I think she thought I was going to be very upset and yell at her. Nope. Why bother? Like I said to her "I guess if you've made it this far in your school career and you're two weeks from graduation and you just now get into some trouble....it's no big deal." She plans on utilizing her detention time wisely I'm sure!
The next 5 weekends are booked with parties, proms, 5k's, basketball tournaments....we aren't lacking in the plans or events portion of our lives, that's for sure.
So, keep your fingers crossed that I continue to enjoy my time at the gym developing a fitter (is that even a word?) me, we have a successful court hearing on Monday, this is the last of my daughter's detentions and all our plans come together successfully!
Have a blessed day!

Changes are on the horizon
So, I've decided to take a Step in the right Direction by hiring a personal trainer to help me reach my fitness goals. I used to never think that my weight would become an issue but it has and it's time for me to take charge and make a change! And today is the day that change begins. I will meet with my trainer for the first time tonight after work and I don't know if I'm excited or scared to death! I think I'm a little bit of both because if she starts screaming at me like she's Jillian Michaels.....we're going to have problems!! But if she can get me where I want to be over the course of the next 6 months, then I'll love her to death!
I'd like to lose 53 pounds over the next 6 months. I know....I know....that sounds like a lot but I fully believe it's obtainable. Broken down, that's 8 pounds a month....2 pounds per week....that's not so difficult - right? I'd be really happy if in 7 weeks I can run a 5k with my 12 year old. That's my immediate goal.
I'd like to journal my foods, exercise/workouts and how it makes me feel. I contemplated putting on here how much my starting weight is but I'm too scared to do that and let the whole world know! It's a large enough number to scare me....I don't need to frighten the rest of the world too!
Wish me luck....it will definitely be an interesting ride, that's for sure!

A Mother of a Weekend!
EEEKS!! It's Monday again....where did the weekend go? I love the fact that I have a full time job in an economy where several people don't but I sometimes wish that we could work 2 days and have 5 off instead of it being the other way around. I seriously don't know where my weekends go most of the time!
Saturday the hubby and I were at our local Walmart and we were browsing around for this and that, had a few things in our cart and decided to check out. Since we didn't have much, we figured the U-Scan would be our best option. So, were standing in line and hubs was in front of me with his back to me and we're both watching the man in front of us. Nice looking guy, clean cut, wedding ring but he seemed so extremely nervous. Like he couldn't get out of the store fast enough! As I'm watching him check out, he has a toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, mouthwash and a 3pack of condoms! I instantly think to myself "he's cheating on his wife!" This guy was in a total hurry and wasn't even taking the time to put his purchases into a bag, he was scanning them and sitting them next to the bag! My husband turns around and looks at me and grins and I asked him what the grin was for. He mouths to me "he has a wedding ring on and he's buying condoms." I laughed.....so funny that my husband and I are on the same page! Granted.....we don't know for certain that he's cheating but all signs pointed to YES HE WAS!
That was our funny for the day! Probably not funny to most people and maybe you had to be there but whatever!
Sunday was a wonderful Mother's Day for me. Dinner at Red Lobster, a little shopping at the mall with the kids (why on MY DAY do the kids get rewarded??) Ice cream cake at my mom's house and then we went to the in-laws. A very nice day indeed!!
Sunday night was here before I knew it and it was time to write lunch money checks, take showers and get ready for the week.
I hope all the mother's I know had a wonderful day as well.

Just the beginning.....
I've been reading blogs for about a year now and I've decided that it's time for me to take my turn pounding the keyboard and sharing my thoughts with the world!
So........welcome to my world, internets!! Who knows if anyone will ever read this but at least it allows me an outlet!
A little about me. I'm a married mom with 5 children, I work full-time, have a business degree, volunteer at my kids school, hold a position on a public board in my community. In my spare time, I like to take pictures, scrap book, spend time with my family, camp, avoid housework and have a good time!
Recently I've decided that I need to make a life-style change and I'm embarking on that starting next week. I don't know if I should be scared to death or excited! I have hired a personal trainer to help me lose weight, get in shape and learn to eat what I should be eating rather than what I enjoy.
What you're about to read is me. Sometimes it will be raw, uncensored goodness about my life. Sometimes I'll be happy, sometimes I'll be mad, sometimes I will just need to vent about things that irritate me but you can always count on the fact that I'll be me....true, real and pure....ME!
Welcome!
